Why do you shoot?

Do you consider yourself a hobbyist that just enjoys target shooting? Striving for the perfect bughole group?

Train seriously for self defense?

Competition?

Still active LE or Mil?

What formal training courses have you attended or plan too?

I am a hobbyist that loves to shoot. I don't know about making a perfect bughole but since I do not live in the country where I can step out back and knock around some tin cans or jugs of water, I have to be content with paper targets, for now.

I do believe in being familiar and competent with a handgun you choose to carry, so practice is important.

No competition, yet.

Not LE/MIL

No formal training. Have considered some, but hasn't been at the top of my to-do list.

Hobbyist and aspiring competitive shooter.

I am beginning to train for more serious self defense, and in case I get the nerve up to enter an USPSA event.

I have spent 1 day at the range with a guy who shoots competitively. I was encouraged by how well I shot, and his reaction to my groupings.

No LEA or Military background, but mad respect for all who have/do.

I have take my CCW class, and just got my call today that my permit is ready.

I plan to take some more classes on self defense and on the USPSA style of competitive shooting classes.

Today I do it as a hobby, most of my life I was a hunter, for a time in the 80's I was into long range (500+ yard) shooting. I've never had any professional training. In my 70's now I don't move real well, I've got fair to middling eye sight, bad knees, arthritic hands and shoulders so any idea of classes or competition are out of the question.

Ha! I have all that and more. I wish it didn't occur till I was 70! Way to abusive on the old chassis.

As far as training there are some good courses out there you could still do. I am training a man now that is 71!

Thanks for sharing

I've shoot competition, and taken several self defense classes. I recently hooked up with a couple of guys who teach NRA certified instructor classes. I'd like to become an instructor.

Seriously, I'd call it a hobby. A hobby I really enjoy that might also save my life. I plan on getting training, but I'm taking one step at a time, learning the basics first. I also like the idea of collecting something I can leave for my children and that will be passed down to their children. Maybe when I retire I'll learn about competitive shooting, that's a low priority.

Good instruction early will save you possibly making corrections later. Close to Alabama? Check out Frank Proctor great guy good instructor. Travels to teach too. Teaches from a CCW and competition perspective. Former Delta forces guy.
