New Member about to buy SS TLE/RL II

I've been checking out the SS TLE/RL II. It's also one of the only SS full size 1911's with a rail that's CA legal. Does anyone else have experience with one? I haven't been able to find many reviews. I've previously shot my buddies Pro CDP II and loved the way it handled. CCW isn't an issue so I was looking for something full size.

Also, I've keep seeing all this bad reports about recent kimbers. Are they really that bad or is there just way more kimber 1911's out there? I realize the people with problems are much more likely to post, and I also realize there's a ton of kimber 1911's out there. I just really don't want to shell out 1300$ for something that isn't going to last.

The TLE is a fine weapon. I don't need a rail, but you'd be hard pressed to find a stainless 5" with all the nice features of a TLE for the money. And the gun will last if you take good care of it. Lastly, Kimber CS has stepped up their game as I did have an issue with my Eclipse Ultra II and they fixed it 5 years after the warranty was up with no out of pocket expense. That's service.

Welcome to the forum. That TLE will only be your first. More will follow.

Thanks for the reassurance! I was having a hard time finding ANY other 5" SS 1911 with rail. I did take a look at the DW Specialist, but it seems that's not CA legal. It's also a little more expensive but not by much. Made the choice easy! I plan on taking care of the kimber, I was just more concerned with barrel rust/divots but as long as the CS has stepped their game up, I'm hoping I won't have too much trouble if a problem arises.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois, the most common problem with Kimbers are the owners that fail to read their owners manual and follow the break in instructions using the recommended ammo.

Welcome to the forum from Colorado!

No experience with the TLE here, but I do have a Super Carry Pro HD & a Tactical Ultra II.

As far as problems - the Super Carry gave me some initial problems, but Kimber CS fixed it & it's running smoothly now. My Tactical has been a virtually flawless pistol - still in the break in period.

Here's the thread about my Super Carry issues, if you are interested in 'typical' Kimber issues. https://www.kimbertalk.com/forums/kim...ge-report.html
