Lightguard

Has anyone used the Crimson Trace Lightguard? I am thinking of getting one for my Custom Crimson Carry II.

I don't like anything mounted on my gun, no laser, no lights. I have one gun a Sig 1911 C3 that came with a laser and try as I might I couldn't shoot groups with it. I took the laser off and my groups shrunk about 50%. IMHO a light mounted on a gun is like yelling "Yoohoo, aim at the light, shoot here".

I agree totally. I even took the CT grips off my Custom Crimson Carry II. I much prefer the G10 grips. But I did put some night sights on it, just in case I need some low-light assistance. Shooting with a laser made me feel like a cat being taunted by some drunk dude with a laser pointer.

Wink Mixed Feelings!!

I had a set of Crimson Trace Laser Grips on my Kimber Custom Stainless II. It was locked in dead on at up to 25 yards. I agree with you about the deterrent effect of the laser. I'd rather spotlight an attacker with a laser at long range and possibly put an end to the confrontation than having to shoot him.

However, for some odd reason, I have never been able to make myself fully confident in the use of the laser. So, when I traded my Custom Stainless for a shorter, lighter Pro Carry II, I did not keep the laser for the new pistol. Instead, I opted to install a set of Trijicon Night Sights, for low light needs. Those glowing dots on the night stand are very comforting at night. I LIKE!!!!

I will be buying some trijicon night sights soon for my compact. The all black sights are fine for the daytime but in a very low light situation I'm not so sure. Thinking about green dot front and orange rears just to have some distinction between the two for quicker acquisition of a target.

As for lasers or lights on the gun, I've never been a big fan for the same reason Chuck stated above.
