Curious of what y'all look for in a set of grips.

A....The appearance/color of the grip..Nothing makes a gun look bad like an ugly set of grips. {like a brown pair of shoes with a black tuxedo}

B....The texture of the grip itself. It can't be slick in the palm of your hand or too rough where it hurts to shoot the gun.

C....Cost. I personally won't spend more than a Benjamin unless they are a set of "real ivory" grips.

D....Material.. I can't stomach a set of cheap looking rubber grips that many of our Kimbers come with. If you're spending $800-UP, there should be a well made set of G-10 or VZ grips on them IMO..

I like checkering on some grips- wooden grips for sure, although not always full checkering. I like the Gator Grips when they are micarta. I have some smooth ivory grips. I like the micro texture on the Alumagrips from Wicked Grips.

I agree with Marshall's response 110%. I will also add I like wood grips. Surprisingly to me over the last four or five years I have bought pistols and or grips that also had "color" mixed in with black. Not neon colors like pink or green but subdued colors.

So far I have blue/black, red/black, orange/black, that appeal to me and seem to work on several different pistols.

Also like special revolver grips.

For you cost and time to make could be an issue, IDK.

The Red/Black G10's (not VZ) still good quality were $38 bucks from EBay. The Black/Grey revolver grips are from Altamont $44.00.

I like checkering. I have a revolver with smooth Pau Ferro Hogues that work well, no slip. Another has smooth of unknown hardwood that are really slippery, but they fit me well. I prefer wood checkering and do not like rubber or plastic.

A nicer set of "clover leaf" grips with the inlay having the "Irish Green" color would be great..

Bought these for my Pro Carry Raptor awhile back for less than $40, but wasn't impressed with the craftsmanship at all...

Craftmanship is the most important feature - the grips need to truly fit the gun & have a great finish (if applicable).

Second is looks - for range guns I really like the beauty of exotic woods. My favorite is Sarge's grips (The Finer Grain).

For a defensive pistol I like G10 for the texturing that adds additional grip, but not the 'cheese grater' effect.

Mr. Chickadee prefers the 'cheese grater' effect with G10 - he has more calloused hands....
