Guide Rod fell out

So today I went to the range and ran 100 rounds through my Ultra Carry II. As I was sweeping up my brass I noticed a metal rod on the floor. Upon inspection I saw that it was a guide rod. I thought someone lost it, but then I checked my gun and it was mine !! I don't know when it fell off as I didn't find it until I was done. Can the gun operate without it? (I'm a newbie)
I showed it to the rangemaster. He gave me some blue locktight to put on the threads.
Hopefully that'll fix the problem.
I only have 800 rounds through it. Kinda surprised it came out so easily !

That has been known to happen and since you found the rod it's not difficult to fix. Clean the threads of any oil, apply the loctite and screw it back together.

Yep, the Ultra I had did the same thing, but I blame myself as I had replaced the recoil springs and didn't recall putting loctite on it. I did, however, put loctite on it after finding it on the floor at the range.

Good that you found the rod they are close to $50 for the whole spring/rod assembly. Years ago I ordered an assembly and that one let go on the first range trip. The gun functioned just fine without it LOL.
Cleaning and red loctite is the way to go as mentioned.

I realize it's probably fixable with the red thread locker but...
It's not supposed to come apart that easily, I'd suggest calling Kimber and requesting that they exchange it with a new one. You didn't pay for a faulty recoil assembly, don't settle for one. JMO :-)

...this is more a question for the elders? If the rod were to have not flown out but IN the pistol and prevented the slide from moving would or could major damage have occurred?
