Kimber Stainless Ultra Carry 40S&W

Recently picked up my 1st Kimber, stainless ultra carry 40s&w. Anyone know anything about this caliber/type of Kimber? I was told it's mid to late 90's model. What's the difference in Ultra Carry and Ultra Carry ll? Thanks for any help.

THe difference between the two is the II has a safety system similar to Colts Swartz. It is not exactly the same but same purpose.

I found this from 2007 and it had the UC 40 S&W listed at $921 msrp.

I read on another forum that it was discontinued in 2007 and another said 2009...

Wink .40 S&W Info

Mr. Jones,

I am a big fan of the .40 S&W cartridge. I have two .40 caliber guns; a Smith and Wesson M&P40 full size and an M&P40 Shield.
I have added Trijicon Night Sights and Apex triggers to both. I find the .40 to be extremely accurate and well fitted to self defense use.

In fact, back in the 80's three famous gun writers/ handgunners were asked a simple question: "In your opinion what characteristics would make the perfect self defense cartridge?" The three put their collective heads together and their consensus was: a 180 grain JHP bullet, of at least .40 caliber, loaded to a muzzle velocity of between 950-1000 fps. There was only one such load back then: The .38/40! However the only firearms chambered for it were single actions and a few old Colt New Service DA guns. No autos at all. Now days, there is a plethora of sub-compact, compact and full size pistols made by numerous manufacturers that are chambered for the .40 S&W cartridge. Many police departments and sheriff's offices issue .40 S&W pistol as their duty weapons.

BTW, those three gun writers/handgunners I spoke of were Elmer Keith, Bill Jordan and Skeeter Skelton. Keith is the father of the .44 Magnums and made (with witnesses) a 600 yard shot on a mule deer with his personal 4" .44 Magnum!! Bill Jordan, was a WWII combat Marine, legendary U.S. Border Patrolman, author of the gun fighting book No Second Place Winner, inspiration for creation of the .357 Magnum Smith and Wesson Model 19 Combat Magnum revolver and survivor of over 300 gunfights. Last but not least, Skeeter Skelton, a combat Marine, former Sheriff of Deaf Smith County, Texas, U.S. Border Patrolman, Customs Agent, Handgun Editor of Shooting Times Magazine and father of gun writer and former New Mexico State Trooper Bart Skelton These three guys knew self defense shooting far better than most other men will ever know it. They knew what it took to stop a hostile confrontation by experience. In their opinion, the .40 S&W is exactly what is needed to get the job done.

Hope this info helps fill in a few gaps. BTW, I'd like to have one of those .40 caliber Kimbers, too!! Could be next. Who knows!!??

Thanks for all of the info, greatly appreciated. I'm assuming I got an after market mag with my purchase, Kimber isn't stamped on it and it says made in Italy. I took the gun apart and cleaned and put a full mag of ammo in to see how it chambered a round, seems that its struggling. A couple of times I actually had to push the slide forward to get the round seated correctly. Could this be a mag issue? Gun needs broken in? (Previous owner claims gun was only fired about 50 times) Thanks in advance for any help.
