Who owns a Kimber Clackamas?

I have been looking for one of these for years. I have had several slip through my fingers... getting to the deal literally 2-5 mins late... GRRR. Does anyone know what models were made with the Clackamas roll marks other than the "Classic Model Custom"?

I do know that they made a "Classic Model Custom Royal"... I would probably fall over myself to buy that at the correct price...

Anyway, I always enjoy talking Clack Kimbers (even though I do not know all that much about them). Who can educate me on them/get some dialog going...

IMO they are the best Kimbers ever produced... I would love to get one, send it off to a master builder and have them make it just as I would want it. I actually cant believe I have not bought one and done this yet

Besides being made in Clackamas,Oregon, what is the difference between those and the Yonkers made Kimbers???

Believe it or not... even though those Kimbers are roll marked Oregon... they were assembled in NY! The differences are pretty much as follows... they are rare (and cool). They are based off a 70 series design not Swartz/80 series. The shop was new to 1911's then. They were just making better quality back then! The finish, the fit, all the big things that make 1911's more $$$ Since

Kimber was not producing crazy amounts of 1911's back then, you could imagine how what I listed above would have been possible. They also had to prove themselves to the masses. They had Colt and Smith to over take... So, they truely were trying to put out semi custom pistols at production prices. You know what happened... and now Kimber is what it is today. One of the largest producers of 1911's out there!
