Best model for range use

I am in the market for a 1911. Price is no option as long as it's under $2000. I like the kimbers, so that's what I would like to get. I looked at the smiths and sig, but I like kimber better.

Some things that are important to me,
- full size
- good trigger
- steel frame

Right now I've been looking into a stainless raptor 2 or the grand raptor 2.

Are these good choices?

I have a 5" SS Raptor 45 and it's my favorite gun. I would definitely recommend one. Your not going to find much of a difference when your shooting any 5" Kimber. The difference is in features and finish. If the Raptor has everything your looking for and you like the look you should go for it. GunBroker has had some nice prices lately.

Im almost positive that I will be far less accurate than most 1911s can shoot, so I don't need to go crazy finding the most accurate thing since I know I likely couldn't out shoot it.

So it's mainly looks and the features.

The Team Match II would be a good choice.

lBest bang for the buck is the now discontinued Tactical Custom HD. There are still new old stock available. $1150ish. If you want adjustable sights their are other models.

If I wanted a full size steel framed 9mm under 2k I would buy a Dan Wesson PM9, change the grips and add a mag well and be done with it...other than maybe a little trigger adjustment. But that is just me...a steel frame Govt Model in 9mm shoots sweet.

I will second this vote! I love mine also. I rotate all other range guns but this one is a constant.

So I went to my local gun shop to look, and as luck would have it, they just so happened to have a lightly used, and I mean lightly, grand raptor 2. Hardly any signs of even being shot except for a very faint idiot scratch, which is almost gone just by rubbing with a microfiber towel. And the price was right, so I took it home along with a Sig p320 tac that they threw in 4 if the sig 21 round mags.

But for the only pic that really matters...
