Question PVD Coating

How durable has the PVD Coating with Cut Scroll Engraving on Kimbers Special Additions proved to be?
Are these just safe Queens?
Does anyone Carry them?

I can't help you with the carry part, but my wife's Sapphire Pro has 200 rds. of Fiocchi 147 gr. FMJ through it and the finish is like new. The weapon is not carried in a holster. It's also got an additional 250-350 slide cycles to help with break-in.

I have a Diamond Ultra 9 and I have carried it several times. I can see fine lines in the finish on the slide. I think I can get them out but I haven't tried yet. I wouldn't call it a safe queen because it does come to the range quite often.

Sapphire Pro and Sapphire Ultra, Gold Combat Limited Edition, finish is still new looking, they are all fired round count 400-500 each. None have been in a holster of any kind.

I would not expect any of them to remain LNIB if carried in a holster.

PVD coating is some pretty tough stuff-I have a Wenger Swiss Military Chrono with this type of coating-had the watch since 2007 with no wear on the coating part but the back bezel thats stainless is wearing to the brass base.

I've only used my sapphire uc2 in a holster & drawing for classes, I don't use it for everyday carry but it's my favorite pistol. It has over 2k rounds through it and still looks beautiful, no scratches or problems with the finish.

pvd is very tough. I have several items plated with it. My problem with it is tat it is slick. Without some type of retention, it wants to slide out of the holster.
