Why do they alway compare to a Glock

I like to go on youtube and see different channels on shooting. It seems to me that they all compare the gun that they are shooting to a Glock. I understand the rep. that Glock has, but are they the best out there? Why is the GLOCK always the one that they use as caparison? I have only shot a Glock 19 one time ( about 15 rounds ). I do not own a Glock. I do not hate Glock for I do not know enough about them. I do hear that they are very reliable. I also think that Sig, Kimber, H&K, Walther all have the same rep. Just wondering.

Same reason everything combat rifle is compared to the AK 47. The Glock built its rep on reliability not looks. Same as the AK rep built on being reliable in all conditions.

To add to what the others said, there are a lot of Glock owners out there, so you compare things to what a majority of people are familiar with as a comparison.

Because many people agree that Glocks are the most reliable/durable right out of the box. It's a quality to which others aspire.

What RustyIron said! Also, some people (i.e. my wife) can shoot a Glock better than a 1911.

I agree with most of the post here along with the Glock being the easiest pistol to learn to breakdown and re-assemble. For beginners. it doesn't get much easier than the Glock. I have owned many (still do) and they are ultra reliable and take a lot of abuse. They do have faults and you can get a bummer from the factory from time to time but compared to others, I have had less issues. I love them and compare most to them as well due to the fact I have more experience with Glocks than others.

The 1911 platform and Kimbers are some of the best looking pistols which Glock can never compare to in the looks department. As I get older, I am getting tired of plastic and moving my collection to steel! :-)
