Crimson Trace - Maybe not the best quality but, best customer service

A few years ago, when Kimber came out with the Solo CDP, I put my name on a waiting list at a local shop and bought only the 2nd Solo CDP to hit the shelves for retail here in WI. And, to this day, Crimson Trace still continues to come through on their warranty.

Less than a year after buying it, the lasergrip stopped working. I called Crimson Trace, they had me ship it back to them, and less than 2 weeks later I had a brand new lasergrip shipped back to me!

But, a year ago, it stopped working again. I was thinking, "Oh crap, not again" and wondered if they'd still cover it. I called Crimson Trace, and they gave me another work order number and asked me to send it in again. Well, I got busy with work and family, and just kept forgetting about it. Several months later, I found the piece of paper with the work order number I had written down. I called Crimson Trace, and the guy pulled up my work order number and said "Yep, you can still send it in". So, with my lasergrip now being a few years old, I didn't get a whole new lasergrip but, they DID replace all of the inner parts for free and sent it back to me.

So, in the end, I'm extremely satisfied with their warranty and customer service. I am, however, wondering now about the quality of the product. I do keep the gun in a dry safe, and I always have a layer of clothing between myself and the gun when carrying it. Has anyone else had problems with their Crimson Trace grips on the Solo models?

Mine still works after a few years but I did have Kimber install Meprolight night sight just in case.

I'm thinking the same thing. Have you been quoted a price on that upgrade?

I had it done when I sent it back to Kimber and it was either 125.00 or 135.00 and they didn't charge me for the install. Not sure what the install would be. They will quote you over the phone. The sights are nice and bright. The originals were plain black sights.

The ones on my UC2 are also black-on-black. While that doesn't present much of a problem in daylight, I do prefer the Millett design where the rear sight is wider (allowing more "wiggling room" for the front sight) and the contrasting color.

In low-light, yes, the laser is a help. But batteries wear out, and a brawl might even damage the mechanism.

That, and the sights on my SIG P238 spoiled me...

Had a minor prob with mine. Nothing major but they were prompt and a super nice gal on the phone. Don't forget. You get free batteries for life if I recall... Not a biggy, but every little bit helps.

Wink Remember This!!

As a retired telephone man who dealt with lasers in connection with fiber optic cable services and electronic equipment, I am compelled to remind all out there that a laser is a very delicate instrument. I'm sure that Crimson Trace cushions and suspends the critical parts of the laser as best as possible, but even that can not protect the vital parts from all impacts, solvents, oil and gun related grime.

Even with this in mind, it seems that CT definitely backs what they manufacture and sell. A customer could not ask for more. CT knows how to treat customers. I say, "You Go, Crimson Trace and Well Done!!"

My Solo already came with the mepros because it's the CDP model, and I love those night sights. I also have them on my Kimber Tactical Entry II.

I have Trijicons on all of my pistols. I like seeing that green glow on the night stand at night. It is very comforting!!!
