Surprised the guy even looked at the customers...most of the time these clowns are so tunneled.

The father is not expected to face any charges.
That makes it even better. It's sad to think of a situation where he would have to face a "wrongful death" suit or any other kind of legal troubles. Say the family of the gunman claimed he was mentally unfit, or had an unloaded firearm or something.

Unfortunately, these are the kind of things I feel that I would think about. If my family made it out alive, would I just be like "man, we were lucky, hope it doesn't escalate and the others make it out okay," for fear of legal repercussions if I tried to help.

Unfortunately even if the bad guy didn't have a family to initiate a wrongful death suit some civil liberties group will on his behalf. Be careful where you point that gun.
