Coating

I am having a problem with the matte black on my Raptor. It's coming off and I mean a lot. Its only 3 months old and the coating is just scraping off with your finger nail in some places. Now I know some will come off in certain places but, this is ridiculous. Has anyone else has this problem?

I do not have a Black Raptor but I know where it would be headed. If you havenít called Kimber do so, I feel they will take care of it for you.

Call them, demand a replacement or refinished and send it in.

....or you could give them a call and asks them, "what is best way to handle this unfortunate issue you're having with your favorite pistol? And wish them a Merry Christmas and thanks for all their help"

Sometimes that works. But when I asked them politely to refinish some parts of my pistol, they said no. They might be nice when there are mechanical issues but their finishes suck.
BTW, I donít write scripts for people. Pick and chose what parts to say and read between the lines.

That's a special characteristic of the patented Kimbo-leum finish. It comes off really easy for when you decide to Cerakote the gun.

Seriously, though. You're not the first to experience this, but I don't have a solution. Maybe Kimber can fix it for you. Call them and scream to holy hell, and don't take no for an answer. I have decades old guns from MANY other manufacturers that are blemish-free. If Kimber can't create their own durable finish, they should license the product of some other manufacturer.

That’s a beautiful gun, sorry to hear about the finish. It really is time for Kimber to use a better finish.

Karen, was your raptor a new or used gun? Was thinking about a raptor, and wondering if the Kim-pro finish had been improved.

My gun was brand new ordered through my gun broker, picked it up in October. I will never buy another coated gun from them. My wish list is a Micro 9 Raptor in Stainless. I will keep ya all posted after I call them today.
