Chickened Out - Shame.....

Had my CHL class today. Had every intention of shooting my new Pro Carry.... well..... when push came to shove I shot my Taurus 24/7. I have never shot a 1911 and hadn't of course shot my new Kimber. I didn't want to look like a moron... I don't think I fooled anyone anyway....Add to that I hadn't shot a pistol for well over a year, except for putting a couple of Porkers out of their misery. Anyway, don't judge me to harshly. I passed the test easily but my spread was...ahhh.. well, sad..... headed to the Range in the morning to shoot the Kimber. I will report back..... I really stunk from the 15yd mark. Barely caught the target at all. 2 rounds on the white, zero point value. The guy next to me shot the 10 ring out.... jerk!😜

15 yards ? Bring that target back to 7 and and start from there. Once your confidence grows, move it out to 10 yards and repeat the process.

Just my 2 cents bro.

Well, there are 3 distances for the CHL shooting exam. 3, 7 and 15. No control over that. If they would have let me use my .308, I would have tore it up

Ah, didn't realize Texas did the test from 3 distances. I've never heard of any state doing that before.

Congratulations Randy, you passed. You can always practice some more and improve your results.

In Illinois we have to shoot 10 rounds each at 5, 7 and 10 yards using a B-27 target.

Looks to me like your shots were under some stress (of the test). I would think you would be under that similar stress in a self-protect situation.

Don't sweat your non-practiced results, you would've stopped the threat!

Texas is 20 @ 3, 20 @ 7 and 10 @ 15. The instructor tells you the shot sequence for each volley.
