How to? Serial #s and DOB?

I know you guys will know about this. How is the best way to get the info about a Kimber? Do I just call Kimber or is there a website? I have a very early Kimber 1911 and would like to know when it was made. I believe it to be a "first year" ('94?). I ordered it through my LGS just after it was on American Handgunner's cover. It was the first Kimber my guy had ever sold but now he has a case full of them.

Thanks for the help!

Try calling them as Marshall said but I think they lost the records on the early guns they made when they moved from Clackamas Oregon to New York.

Thanks for the info guys. I know mine is an early issue, I just wondered how early. I'll give them a call this week, it's worth a shot.

This link from 2010 is a little history of Kimber that many may enjoy.

This link is from the archives and tells of the guns that Kimber has produced from 1998-2006.

Very interesting stuff. I noted the comments about the 1995 Shot Show introduction...this sounds familiar. I'm pretty sure I first saw one on the cover of a '94, month unknown, American Handgunner and I ordered mine shortly there after. I would have to think mine may be a first year model. I do remember lots of references to Chip McCormick at the time. I know mine is one of the best "just out of the box" shooters I have ever known and I wouldn't trade it for a box of puppies.
