New Platforms?

In 2018 Kimber will stake its place in new areas of the marketplace; bringing its premium brand standards to a host of new platforms and products. - Jordan Hunter (new director of Marketing Communications)

What new platform does he mean? The article says he use to be with Sig Sauer. Am I reading to much into this?

A Kimber polymer, striker fired? Could this explain the new plant in Troy, AL?

Back around 2004 Kimber made a polymer framed .45, it was the BP Ten II.

How about a Kimber MPX / MP5 type 9mm pistol... ? The polymer gun makes sense but it is getting to be a crowded market place. Have to keep an eye on this ... could be interesting.

New to me. That's why I hang around here.

One thing I do know, if Kimber makes it, it should be quality. I do love 1911s, but I appreciate and own other platforms.

I really hope that Kimber doesn't go near the point where making a plastic gun is in their future. How about perfecting as close as possible the guns that they already make so there are less RMA's back to Yonkers for a tune up.

I doubt if Kimber is going to get back into polymer frames again.

Perhaps they figure the 1911 market is getting saturated. Either grow the business or die.

It seemed strange to me, but a "HOST of new platforms"... Even when the K6 was introduced...it was huge. Something is up!

In my humble opinion if Kimber goes into the plastic striker fire arena it will be their downfall.
