One thing about owning a collection...

...is figuring out what to take to the range. One gun that rarely ever stays at home is my Kimber. It really is so much fun to shoot. Plus, after shooting it I get to clean it and love on it. Kimbers are really jealous guns. They love your attention.

For me there always one or two that has had an issue. Either it's been modified/accessorized, or didn't quite perform right and has been worked on and needs further testing. These few seem to always get to go on the field trip, and is becoming a self feeding sickness. This usually means that the best guns never get shot, so I don't get comfortable or learn to absolutely trust them. So the dogs get shot a lot and become the carry pieces.

...is figuring out what to take to the range
Typically I go to the range a minimum of two or three times each week and until sometime ago it was a real mess. Lately I have been trying to bring some discipline to my chaotic shooting activity. After all I had been able to do it with one of my other hobbies, pipe smoking, so why not with guns? Each week I choose three firearms, sometimes two but never four. I use them for the week and force myself not to shoot anything else (at the range). At the end of the week I clean them, put them at the beginning of the line and let them rest them until is their turn again. Some exceptions of course, such as when I have a new gun that I want to shoot it some more or if I want to practice for something, or a couple of guns that I have never shot and probably never will.
This week for example is the Micro, the Custom and a S&W 29.

A few years ago I use to take 7-8 of my babies with me to the range because I liked the attention that they received from the others...
It was like I was in kindergarten again and making sure everybody knew I brought the biggest apple for Ms.Wagner..
Now days I just take a couple along with my edc and just try to get better with the ones that are there..

Because of family obligations I can't stray to far from the house so when I do get a chance to go to the range I usually take 4 or 5 guns in addition to what I'm carrying.

Did what??? Open the safe, say hi and then close the door on them??

I usually take my small barrels on one range visit and then the 4+ barrels on another range session..
The sights on my revolvers are all different and if I take more than a few it can get quite frustrating at times because one may shoot different than the other and then I just look like Stevie Wonder blasting away at paper..

Thanks...
Ya have to add another sentence about the thread to your comment otherwise is could be call jacking a thread...

I like taking different calibers along with my collection to the range to get a real feel of the recoil in each firearm...
{See how that works??..}
