Kimber 38 Super?

Does anyone have a Kimber in 38 Supper? I am trying to gather information to see if I may want to purchase one. I don't need one but that is beside the point. I looked up the ballistics and the Super seems interesting.

I would be interested in hearing what owners think about .38 Super. I don't own one, never even shot one but would like to.

My brother had one.
He loved it until it was stolen.
I'll see him this weekend and ask for more information.

I have had several Kimber 38 supers and let most of the slip through my hands for one reason or another. I still have a Pro Carry HD in 38 super and probably always will. All of the guns shot great and I often carry the HD. 10 or 15 years ago, I won my IDPA division with an early Kimber 38 super during a SC state match. I wish I had that gun back!

I have two 38 Supers and will never let them go. My pro is my favorite EDC, and you can't beat the ballistics. Definitely an upgrade from 9mm and every bit the punch of a 45, with flatter trajectory.

Here's a pic of mine. I had the Kimber Custom shop checker the front strap, add the mag well and change out the grips, before it was shipped to my LGS.

I was reading that Frank Hamer preferred the 38 super to his .45. I will start looking for one just in case I decide I need one. Thank you for the information.

The 38 super has been a popular law enforcement cartridge in the past, especially before the advent of the .357 magnum. It has always been popular among the Texas Rangers. Using a Double Tap or Corbon, you have a defensive round with ballistics close to the .357 magnum, especially out of a 5-inch barrel. With a nine or 10 round magazine, you are not too far from a Glock 19, but with more powerful ammunition (granted some 9mm ammo is pretty hot).

.38 Super is on my short list of guns. It's something I've always wanted. In fact, I now blame you for bringing this up. I might order a Rock Island and trick it out, have it Cerakoted and add some bling.
