New Sights Range Report

I got the Mepro night sights put on my Custom Crimson Carry II by my local smith. The installation looks very nice, love the sights. Took it to range and noticed that the laser and the sights were not lined up, shot it and confirmed that the laser was still dead on but the sights were about 3" to the right at where they should be. The smith grabbed it and shot it himself and then made an adjustment, haven't shot it again yet but I think it should be pretty close based on where the laser was pointing.

I brought a friend who shot it as well and he put down a couple of amazing groups using the laser, cloverleafs at 7 yards. He was having a very tough time with his own guns as he couldn't see the sight very well. He was lights out with the laser. That Kimber is really tight!

John, did your ammo issues go away? I've shot a bunch of FM since our outing, without issue.

Cool Duh!!!

Since your Custom Crimson Carry II has the laser, your 'smith should have made sure that the sights and the laser were sighted in and co-witnessed!! That would be a no brainer, in my opinion. I'm just sayin'........

No. Still have about the same rate of FTB with the FM, just going to shoot the rest and maybe do a small order from them to see if it was a bad batch. When it goes it is amazingly accurate.

BTW, There's a full size raptor up at cherokee gun that might have my name on it. They offered me a decent trade so I'll probably grab it. Then I'm done. I promise.

I agree. He hates lasers so it might be a religous issue.

Remember, with iron sights they are supposed to be consistent for windage regardless of distance. Not so with lasers. Because the laser is not aligned with the barrel, the point of impact must be set for a specific distance for 'zero.' If you shoot at a closer target the point of impact will be left of laser aim point. If you shoot at a more distant target the point of impact will be right of laser aim point.

You should have a little tiny tool for adjusting the laser yourself! That's what I did. I was at the end of the dining room and had the sights and laser aimed at a roll of paper towels sitting on the kitchen counter. Correctly aligned laser dot sits on top of a correct sight picture.
