I agree a "in hand date" would be a must. After 8 weeks and still getting the run around I would be down there getting my trade in back and canceling the deal.
This day and time I can buy any gun I want from my recliner wait 2, 3, 5 days tops and have the gun in hand. I don't even consider "ordering" from a local dealer.
