Idpa

I've done just enough research into the IDPA to think it might be a fun way to keep the skillset up and meet like-minded shooters. Hoping maybe my little Micro Carry will work in the BUG category and looking to pick up another 1911 for....another/other categories. I don't want a "competition" gun though - gotta be something I can carry; something in a compact.

Oh, and I want to stick with 9mm.

Any recommendations?

I know you can get an Ultra or pro size 9mm but I don't think Kimber makes a 9mm compact.

I think the Compact Carry Pistol Division (CCP) allows up to a 4.1" barrel and minimum of 9mm. I could shoot my Springfield but would rather have a "reason" for picking up another 1911.

Kimber makes the Custom and TLE 1911 in 9mm to mention a couple. Both would be great for competition, but they are full size. Ultras have a three inch barrel with shorter grips and Pro's have a four inch barrel with a full size grip. Both can be had in 9mm. I carry a Pro Carry in .45 and have no problem concealing it even in shorts and a t shirt.

In going through Kimbers 2015 catalog I can not find a Compact 9mm. They make Ultra's, Pro's and Custom size 9mm's but not a Compact.

Checkout the Tactical line up of smaller than Govt Model size in 9mm. You would be shooting ESP division (Enhanced Service Pistol) with a single action 9mm. If my recollection of IDPA rules are correct. It has been a couple years since I shot the sport.

The only gun in the Tactical line that comes in 9mm is the Pro, full size grip with a 4" barrel. I think the Tactical line is the best bang for the buck in the entire Kimber catalog.

Yep. I may have missed on what size he wanted. I conceal carry a 4" gun daily and personnally won't go smaller. That Tac Pro in 9 is a sweet shooting pistol too.

Kimber should have started the Super Carry models in 9 instead of the rainbow collection of the Micros to compete with Sig's silliness. But that's just me. Give practical well featured guns and leave the fashion statements to women's magazines.
