K6s keyholing with Federal 130 FMJ 38 Spl

Bought a new K6s and it appears to keyhole from 5 yards. No round holes in the target only rips.

Had the same problem with my snub-nosed SW 66.

I switched to heavier and longer bullets.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois Htn2wtx, how about stopping by our "New Member Introduction" sub forum and introducing yourself to the membership?

Going to the range tomorrow and I will try something heavier and longer. I found in one magazine article that it has a 1 in 16 RH twist. I also have some lighter 357 mag rounds to try.

Went to the range again with my K6S. Shot Win 110gr JHP 357 mag, Sig Sauer 38 spl 125gr +P, Win PDX 1 130GR 38 spl +P, Speer Gold Dot 125gr 357 mag, Hornady 38 spl 110 gr FTX, and Federal 129gr 38 spl +P Hydra Shok. Shot on the one remaining target like the ones I used last time and it ripped (keyholed). I used new Outers bullseye targets and had nice round holes. A lesson learned for me; targets can become brittle and break rather than show clean round holes.
I sure had fun though doing the research. By the way...I love my Kimber!
