first 250 shots

Is it still a standard to shoot 250 shots to break in a Kimber? I purchased a used 9mm Pro Carry II 4.25 barrel and it is great. Called Kimber to ask for new recoil spring and they sent me 2 new ones. I have read about their customer service problems but the were wonderful to me as a second hand purchaser of a Kimber.

Personally I won't carry "any" gun until it has 400-500 rounds put through it and the last 250 needs to be without any issues...

That's just the way that I do it..

A gun needs to have 500 trouble free rounds through it before it makes it into my carry rotation.

I don't know what you've heard about Kimbers customer service but I've never found them to be anything but fantastic.

I have no set number of rounds for a working or carry gun, I also do not believe in the brake in period. I may put three or four mags of carry ammo though a gun and decide it's good to go or I may take it on several extended training range days before I decide it's good to go.
I have been around, using, training with firearms long enough that I have learned to trust my gut and the gun, without putting a number on it.

Wink Kimber's 2 Cents Worth!!

Kimber recommends 500 round of full power hardball through a pistol to break it in. Do what you wish with that information.

As for Kimber customer service, the majority of posts with regard to their customer service on this forum rate it second to none!! I have never had a problem with them. They are polite, professional, more than fair and easy to deal with. Who could ask for more??
