Fun day with the Raptor!

First 50 rounds at 7yrds. Better than last week. If you look close you can see the scratches on the Kimber logo.
Had my first one of these. That's one out of 248 rounds. I don't know what caused it but it was not the grip. You can see some of my scratches by the rear serrations.
First 24 rnds at 10 yrds
Last 24 rnds at 15 yrds
While I shooting at 15 yrds this lady who was next to me shooting with a gentleman came around the concrete blocks between us laughing her arse off and told me she accidentally shot my target. I told her no problem. You can see what looks to be a .22 hole high left. That was a first for me. After the range I took the slide to my gunsmith for polishing.

That mag is on its way out of service. It's an inertial feed issue. The shock and jarring of the gun with slide hits the rear stopping point causes the round to jump from the control of the mag feed lips and get ahead of the extractor.

May be a weak spring. Maybe oily ammo from oily fingers loading the mag. Maybe out of spec feed lips. Swap the spring with another lik mag prove. To work flawlessly. Degrease mag inside and out and follower and shoot the several times through. If it repeats the stoppage shot the mag and replace.

Do not apply lube to magazines or followers!

Thanks Mike! I was wondering, in my haste while loading the magazine with the uplula I fail to push the cartridge all the way to the rear. Could that be the cause?

Possibly if the rounds are loaded short or at least that one that caused it. Fluke round? One in a case of a thousand? Possible. I'd run the make diagnosis as above to proof the mag. My life is worth a new spring or a mag.

Great shooting. Where did the scratch come from?
