The Kimber Custom II comes with a plastic mainspring housing (MSPH) I decided to make my third modification. I purchased a stainless steel chain link MSPH and magwell from Fusion Firearms. I purchased on eBay. The quality is excellent. Solid stainless steel with a mate finish.

This addition accompanies a Valkyrie muzzle break and skeleton grips. I like the mate finish of the MSPH and magwell because it pulls out the other mate finishes on the Kimber. It adds additional weight to the butt of the gun, and I like it. The grips don’t rest flush on the magwell. But, I actually prefer that look. The flush look isn’t appealing. It is a little challenging to install. Mainly getting the pin in that secures the MSPH to the butt. The magwell connects to the MSPH with an Allen key screw. It also is secured by a dovetail joint. It does not have any play whatsoever. It’s solid.

The finished product results in a much cleaner mag loading experience. The modification does not slow the mag release at all. It adds to, not takes away. Here’s the end result.

I have Fusion Chain link MSHs on my Raptor and Eclipse and I have no complaints. I think they make a great product for a reasonable price.

Nice! Did the Valkyrie muzzle break need any hand fitting?

The muzzle break did not need any hand fitting. It locked tight and clean right out of the package.
