Brand New Target II Quadruples

So excited to get this gun after 10 long days (California) waiting for it. I took it to the range, loaded up some target ammo, safety off, point, press, bang. To my surprise there were 2 holes in the target even though it sounded like one shot. Hmmm... Pulled the trigger again. One new hole. Pulled the trigger again. One new hole. And again.... wait for it.... 4 new holes!!!

No, not double-tap. I train with Front Sight in Nevada. They teach excellent push-pull pressure and trigger finger discipline.

I'll resist the temptation to consider myself lucky and keep it this way. Gun goes back to Kimber. Sad to be without her for a while. Maybe they'll tell me what is causing this 😉

First off Bare45, welcome to the KT forum from Orygun.

That's a first for me, probably for most here. Never heard of that condition in all my years of shooting. Lucky you indeed.

You're on the right track though, sending it back to the mother ship for evaluation. Once it's been returned, please post what Kimber says was the issue, as we're all going to be interested in this one (sure sounds like a disconnector problem).

Sorry for your bogus experience after waiting that silly ten days for your pistol. (No waiting here, fondle, pay, fill out 4472 and go shooting.)

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois Bare45, sorry to hear you're having problems with your new Target II. Like Rick posted we'd be interested in hearing what Kimber says.

How about stopping by our "New Member Introduction" sub forum and introducing yourself to the membership?

Although you do not say so I an presuming that all of these holes come from multiple shots with a single pull of the trigger.

One of my (non Kimber) .45 1911's started to slam fire from slide lock with no finger on the trigger. The problem was that the tensions on the sear leaf (the leaf on the left of the sear spring) was not strong enough. Bending the leaf forward cured the problem.

I have also heard of slam fires when the leaf was under instead of on top of the sear while the trigger was still being held back.

I would check the sear spring first and if it still happens send it back to Kimber.

Yup. Betcha a cup of coffee that's what it is. The condition isn't hard to produce for an overly enthusiastic gun tuner, and it's not hard to fix.

Nevertheless, I'd let Kimber handle this one.
