Range time records

What do you all use to document your time/rounds at the range?

I shoot at an indoor range. $20 gives one hour shooting time. There is a timer when I start, and the range officers let you know when time is about up. Rounds? I plan in advance how many I will shoot, and pack accordingly. Would love to shoot at an outdoor range, but there isn't one near me.

We have an excel spreadsheet and just record rounds and dates in there. We usually go for an hour maybe a little more since we bought a membership to our local range.

I'm with you A.C . My last range trip I took four 9mms, three revolvers (two .38s, one .357) and two .22 auto rifles. We met for breakfast at 9am, on the firing line by 10 stayed until 4:30. I packed a lunch and a cooler. My shootin' buddy brought about the same. Since I dump all calibers from their boxes into plastic ammo cans I couldn't even guess how many rounds we went through.

I only write down anything when using my chrono to test handloads or when comparing .22s to find the most accurate for each gun. When shooting four or five different rimfire types or brands ya gotta keep track and I just use a ball point pen and notebook.

My problem is I have a steel range setup out back on the property. So if I'm not working and the suns out I'm out back. Way too many rounds to count, just keep an eye on the rifling and replace barrel when its worn out. Been using the coated Hard cast lead projectiles in my reloading. They shoot cleaner than the copper plated and should have much less wear on barrels.
