Question about break in.

Hi
I am a new Kimber owner as of last week. I purchased a full size Kimber 1911 Stainless II. I went to the range and put 100 rounds through it. 50 rounds of American Eagle 230 fmj and 50 rounds of Winchester 185 swc. I was loading 5 rounds at a time and twice while my wife was shooting it the 5th round hung up and did not fully chamber. I thought at first she just wasn't keeping a firm wrist but then it also happened to me once. It happened using both ammos. I have been shooting for 40 years and own a Colt National Match and my everyday carry is a Springfield XDS 3.3 -45 cal. I have run thousands of rounds through both of these and never had one hang up at all. I am NO expert by any means so MY question is weather there is a break in period with Kimbers ? Am I doing something wrong ??
Thank You.

Welcome to the site from Tennessee. Congrats on the Stainless!

Yes, there is a break-in period, we all have different ideas on number of rounds. I like at least 400.
I would use a little extra lube at least during break-in.
I would try a different brand 230gr FMJ. Wait on SWC and Hollow Points.

I will also recommend racking the slide a couple 100 times on top of what 2sharp2 said above.

Welcome to the forum ASC, yes there is a break in period, Arland gave you some good advice. I like 800 rounds before I graduate a gun to carry worthy. How about stopping by our "New Member Introduction" sub forum and introducing yourself to the membership?

Field strip, clean, lube generously, and put 500 rds. of 230 gr. hardball through. You should be good to go then.
