Kimber KHX Custom/RL

Anyone had one in their hands yet or shot it? Noticed one on the shelf at our local gun store, but didn't tempt myself. Really like the RMRs with aging eyes. Have a Sig P320 with a RMR and it helps a lot. Just wondered if anyone has shot the Kimber version.

I don’t have one or any experience with one but if you like the the striker-fired trigger and RMR on the P320 how could you not like the same on a 1911.

I have one, a 9mm Custom KHX, and would take it ANY day over any laser grips.

I've got two handguns with lasers, a S&W M642 w/CT laser grips and a Kimber TLE-RLII with a SureFire X400 laser/weapon light.

That said, I'll take my 9mm Aegis Elite Custom with the Vortex Venom 6 MOA sight anytime over the laser-equipped guns....faster, more accurate, less dinking about trying to find the dot, especially in daylight.

I've pondered what a laser sight would have done for me in Vietnam on my old Colt 1911 .45. I deployed the pistol twice during my combat deployment, but honestly think a laser would have been more of a hindrance than an asset. So now, many years later, I do not use a laser for any of my CC guns.....one less thing to think about, one less thing to go wrong at a critical moment.

Aging eyes are a perfect match for the RMR's. JME FWIW

Thanks for the thoughts....tomorrow when I go to the range, I will ask them to take it out of the case so I can get it in my hands. I have a 5 inch Kimber Raptor in .45 that I really like so I am curious what the difference will be if any except the rmr.

My first kimber had the crimson trace grips. Thought it would be cool to have and thought it would be quicker to site. Turned out like you described, too fiddley. I found myself chasing it around the target like a cat chasing a laser pointer up the wall haha

I few weeks back I was at the range and a guy next to me was shooting a Sig P320 with a RMR and I asked him how he liked it and he handed the gun to me and said if you have some 9mm shoot it. Unfortunately I just shot the last of my 9mm ammo but I did get to hold the gun and look at a target 10 yards away and I was impressed. I could definitely see myself buying one someday. I’m not knocking them but I’m not a laser fan.
