Favorite Pistol besides a 1911 platform

Hi girls,
I've been wondering what hand gun you guys prefer other than a 1911 platform weapon. I really like 1911's but I enjoy other hand guns also. I'm sure a bunch of ya'll have multiple hand guns or have had in the past.

For me the question is easy, maybe because I carried one 25+ years to work, at work, and to home from work. I shot thousands of rounds through it without ever 1 malfunction and probably the reason I got off on the 1911.

It is a H&K USP Compact .40, DA/SA with a manual safety & decocker. I like that gun because of the different modes I can carry it in, loaded on safety, loaded off safety in DA/SA mode, or SA cocked & locked just like a 1911 and my SA trigger is real sweet at 4#. I carried it cocked & locked most of the time, the reason for liking the 1911. The only downside is I wish it had been 6-8 oz. lighter but other than that one fine firearm. I wound up with another just like it in 357 Sig and I switched back and forth.

After carrying cocked and locked so much I was really happy & comfortable with my new Kimber Aegis Ultra II and the size and weight is a dream. I just hope it's as reliable as my old HK, it sure is pretty.

Tough question especially for those of us who have lots of guns and have been shooting for a long time. Often my favorite is whatever I'm really into at the time. It might be hunting, competition, range days or working on my carry.

Of course any "real" Handgunner is going have and shoot a 1911 or two or six. But if I had to choose something else it would probably be my S&W 586/686 .357 mag revolvers. Mainly because I can do so many things with them. I can load them up for deer hunting or load them down for Revolver Class in USPSC. And they can be used as serious home and personal protection.

But then I have two Ruger MK II, .22 autos that are surgically accurate and I can shoot them all day for cheap . and there's my Performance Center 642, .38, J-frame that goes with me everyday, everywhere . Oh and I have three Sig 320s that I really love...

Ask me later and I'll probably give you a different answer....

bhunted,
I have a HK VP9SK, gray frame/black slide, and I really like it too. The trigger is real nice and smooth and a great shooter.

Paul,
Great choices and I know what you mean by what your into at the time. I've got one P320 carry all FDE in 357 Sig and a fellow installed an Apex flat trigger kit in it. The gun is new unfired and I just don't like it. Probably sell it and just get something I like but I know I'll take a beating on it.

1911 or revolvers.
Not a fan of striker fired weapons.
I shot a HK somethingorother today. It was really nice.

My 1st choice after a 1911 would be my Hi Power. I guess it is 1911 on steroids so let's say my Ruger Blackhawk 357 magnum. It kicks butt.

Favorite pistol for ?

Carry - No other pistol I'd rather carry than my LCP

Recreation - By far my favorite range pistol is my suppressed Ruger 22.

Depends on what purpose:

Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 45 for carry.

Glock 19 for "truck gun".

S&W M&P 9 Pro for USPSA.
