Type of holster?

So, thereís a type of 1911 holster out there where thereís a band that goes between the hammer and the firing pin, ostensibly to keep the gun more secure in the holster, but people also recommend it when you may be a little wary of carrying cocked and locked. What is the type of holster called? Iím trying to find some online and for the life of me donít know what to search on.

TIA!

Lesa

These are often referred to as "thumb break" holsters. You use your thumb to press down on little tab that pops the snap free. Also many types of "pancake" holsters have thumb breaks too. Called pancake because of how flat they lay against the body.

Many companies make these types of holsters I'm sure. I used to carry a 1911 in a Bianchi with a thumb break that was pretty fast to draw from once you got the hang of it.

If you pickup or order a holster with a thumb break make sure its for "cocked & locked" carry. Many of them are designed to go over the hammer instead (Hammer down)
