Aegis Elite Custom 9mm 1911 magazine load issues

So I'm no stranger to Kimber, having owned 4 of their 1911's. 3 are chambered in .45 and my newest one is in 9mm. I have 3 mags for it and can barely load 8 of the 9 rounds it should take. I forced a 9th round into one of the mags but the last round won't sit right and is difficult to load into the magwell. On top if I press the mag release, it drops about an inch and stops.
If I remove one round, it seems to drop out more freely. This gun is brand new and have under 200 rnds through it. Kimber tells me to load to 9 rnds and insert the mag without chambering a round and leave in the gun for a few days to a week to let the spring soften some and break in. Has anyone experienced this. I even bought a couple spare mags from Wilson Combat for it and the same issue. Wilson Combat says I should also load the mags to capacity and let them break in some. Ugh... Help, please?

Welcome to the forum dm930, I suggest you get a Maglula magazine loader, it will make loading any 9mm or .45 magazines a breeze.

How about stopping by our "New Member Introduction" sub forum and introducing yourself to the membership?

Chuck and Kimber are both right. A mag loader will make things more pleasant and UpLULA is the best. And, the springs will loosen up over time, as Kimber implied.

That's my experience also. I'm using both Kimber and WC mags without any issues, including my Aegis Elite Custom 9mm.

You might also want to try the Wilson ETM 10-round mags in your nine. They work very well in my gun.

+ One for the UpLula also. Don't know how I got along for so long without one.

Welcome to the site from Tennessee!

Had that issue before last Wed range day, I had six 9 round 9mm magazines and could only get 9 rounds into one of them. And I was using a loader.

I will have the magloader tomorrow although I don't think it will help much. There is zero movement inside the mag for a round and it doesn't resolve the issue with dropping a mag freely when it's loaded to capacity.

I appreciate the feedback also. Just kind of perplexed.

I've been thinking of taking one of mine apart and having a look see. ?? Just not had a chance yet.

Just FYI I have two full size 9mm, 1911s a Kimber Target II and a Colt Competition. I've been running CMC (Chip McCormick) mags that are 10 rounders and I have no issues loading all ten rounds and they function without issue. I also use the Maglula loader.

I had a similar experience with my 9mm Kimber magazines. They'll loosen up in time.
