Accidental discharge in Publix

This is the kind of thing that makes us all look bad. Probably just had it laying in his pocket without a holster.

Yep - watched the video and read the article that both say that the gun was in his pocket when it "went off". Pretty sure that guns aren't just "going off" in pockets like the vape devices are nowadays.....but yeah, either no holster and the trigger caught on something or even worse yet, he had his hand in there fumbling around.

Unfortunately, some people are idiots and make us all look bad. He probably shouldn't have been allowed to leave the house alone, or drive a vehicle, let alone carry a concealed pistol.

Witnesses say his gun was in his pocket when it discharged while he was in line to checkout.

Translation = Playing with gun in pocket.

Safe pocket carry is quite easy. You aren't required to be a high-speed low-drag skilled operator. Simply put the gun in the correct size/design pocket holster. Slip into yer pocket. Don't put anything else in that pocket, including yer paw, while carrying.

Using the "logic" this clown used would mean that we're all in danger of having our handguns go off in the safe or on the nightstand all by themselves......

Really?

They actually make holsters for these things......

I don't think we are reading the same article. The article in the link says it was a womens gun in her purse that went of when her purse fell and a man was shot. It also says the gun ws a 2 shot pistol, which brings visions of a derringer type pistol to my mind and most of those types pistols I have seen do not have trigger guard, a safety, and are single action.

Good catch.

If you look at the story it was "updated" 14 minutes ago (probably 15min now ). Anyway... the written story originally said the man shot himself with a gun in his pocket and the news video too. But now the written story has been changed to a woman's purse.. blah blah blah.. but of course the news video remains the same saying the man shot himself with a gun in his pocket.

Another classic example of how news stories can't be trusted to accurately report an event.

What my link is showing now is not what it was originally. It was that a Man shot himself when a gun in his pocket discharged. Now his wife dropped her purse.
Phil’s right about the news media today. Can’t be trusted.

Well whoever it was is an idiot, in my opinion. Loose in a purse is also a terrible way to carry a firearm.
