A suggestion...

If you browse the Kimber Talk forums you'll find one titled "Gunsmith." If you browse that forum you'll find a thread titled "How to Polish a Feedramp Quick and Easy." Mr. Moderator, I suggest that you place a large and easily read posting at the very top of this thread that reads, "CAUTION, DOING THIS VOIDS KIMBER'S FACTORY WARRANTY." We got too many sad Bubba gunsmiths on KT already, we don't need to add to their number.

Still bitter? Let it go Bubba. Maybe the "Notice" should also say: If you do try harmless polishing: "Don't be a Chump and spill your guts to a Customer Service Representative about what you have done!" Then still feel entitled to warranty work.

Sharpie, Sharpie, Sharpie. I'm surprised at you. Don't they talk about the Eighth Commandment at your church. I was told you're not supposed to deceive anyone and that includes Kimber's Customer Service people. I didn't. But I guess in your book that makes me a Chump. I'm okay with being called a Chump in this case. Still, my suggestion has merit.

I'm almost afraid to ask...

What was the final verdict or are you still in negotiations?

I've asked Kimber to provide the specific barrel measurement that is so far out of spec that it requires its replacement. Alex said he would contact the gunsmith. Stay tuned.

"CAUTION, DOING THIS VOIDS KIMBER'S FACTORY WARRANTY."

Not necessarily. Only if you polish it till it is out of spec.

I was told that because I polished the feed ramp, Kimber was unable to determine whether the barrel left the factory in spec or not. Therefore because the barrel is out of spec, they're finding is, my light polishing knocked it out of spec and it's not covered under warranty. I used a cloth wheel and Flitz.

C'mon... that makes about as much sense as eyeing a scantily clad hot babe on a summer day then telling your wife when you get home because you don't want to deceive her.

Hey Kimber, I purchased this gun new a week ago and it won't feed. End of story.

Hey babe, I stopped by the wine store and picked this for you because I know you like it. End of story.

This is not complicated stuff.

That said, I do like the idea of asking for all barrel measurements compared to spec. Stuff like that will likely wear em down to where they'll say the heck with it and fix the gun under warranty no charge.

Keep us updated as the saga develops.

And then there's this little thing near the back of the manual. Once I read that I knew that if I did some work on my shooter that it may void the warranty.

I found out that polishing the feed ramp constitutes an "unauthorized modification." I wouldn't have thought that or I wouldn't have done it. I was just trying to be a good Samaritan and save Kimber the postage and trouble of having to repair something I could easily fix myself. Remember, no good deed goes unpunished.
