Has anyone used aluminum?

I just picked up a box of Federal Ammo in aluminum and was curious what you may have experienced...

I wouldn't use it for serious business, but for plinking, it's fine. Last weekend I was shooting some Blazer and had one failure to extract out of a gun that is pretty much flawless. I think that maybe the rim was a little weak. Don't worry about the aluminum, it won't have any negative effects on your gun.

I have shot a few boxes of Independence aluminum .45 ammo in both my FNX-45 & my Custom TLE II and had no issues at all.

I have used .40 cal. Federal aluminum for range ammo and it ran as well as the brass.

I'm glad I'm hearing confidence in the ammo. The reason I asked about them was when I went to purchase them, the clerk says, "Now you know these are aluminum?"

"Yes, why?"

"Because they jam a lot."

"Well, I read good reviews, so I'm going to try them."

I haven't fired any in many years. However, I never had a problem, although I feared I might just by handling some.

'Brass' was shiny and slippery, ergo, I figured it was made to fly out of a pistol. 'Aluminum' seemed a tad unpolished, like it might hang up--which it never did.

I don't even know what's in my SIG P238 right now. It's never had a stoppage, so I guess I quit worrying about it...

I've never had a single issue with aluminum 45 ACP! It's always cycled great for me.

I’ve also used them in .45ADP with no issues.

It's a crying shame in the firearms industry the least informed folks can often be found behind the counter.

If you're thinking about reloading in the future then buying brass case ammo for practice would be worthy of consideration since there's usually not much price difference between aluminum and brass case practice ammo. Aluminum is not for reloading.
