I have about 25 KimPro Tac-Mags, I've never had a problem with one and use them in my carry gun. I also have as many range mags from Joes1911magmania.net.

Chip McCormack mag's have been flawless for me. Experience tells each 1911 "likes" some mag's and may not function well with others. Find what works best for yours...may demand some trial-and-error

The Kimber 38super mag that came with my Eclipse Target was defective but Kimber promptly replaced it. Kimber actually doesn’t make their magazines. They are either Mecgar or metal form. Can’t remember which.

I own quite a few mecgar and metal form in 9mm in both officer and full size. No issues with any.

In 45 I have about twenty chip McCormick 8 rd and 4 or 5 10 round. I used these in IPSC competition for years and never had a single issue. They’re close to thirty years old and have never had to replace springs. They’ve been dropped in the dirt and walked on many times and they just keep on going.

For officer size 45 I have a half dozen. I’m not sure what one is but all are marked chip McCormick shooting star but also marked Kimber. No issues with any.

What I do is buy either McCormick, Mecgar or Metal Firm depending on what are the best price.

I had a strange thing happen recently. I bought two more 9mm 10 rd 1911 mags from a big supplier. Both were Metal Form but neither would fall free from any of my pistols. They had to be pulled out and pushed in with unusual force. I called Metal Form and sent them to them. They replaced them and said they were from a batch they made for this company that were non standard. He said they were non standard by design but didn’t say why. They were made for CDNN sporting goods. I also purchased some officers size 45’s but there were no problems.

Colt, Kimber, Wilson, Chip McCormick... they all run great for me. The only 1911 magazine that ever failed for me was a rusty 75 year old Argentine beater that looked like it was gnawed upon by Nancy Pelosi when she reads the employment reports.

Now that's funny, and probably true.
