Missing Kimbers?

So, I'm surfing the web looking for Kimber deals because it was cold and snowing outside.

I'm checking some gun shops that I've bought from before and they have very few Kimbers in stock. One shop in particular, a Kimber Master Dealer, had a total of only three 1911s!

What is going on? Is Kimber not shipping for some reason or are the smaller internet sellers no longer stocking Kimbers? Years ago I had a dealer tell me that Kimber required a minimum order and he and a lot of other shops couldn't afford to tie up that much money. Perhaps Kimber raised that amount forcing the little guys out?

Kimber recently had the big push with the LW series so perhaps they are behind on regular production?

One of the sites I checked is close enough for a day trip so I may drive up there if I can get loose today.

These first world problems can make for a sleepless night!

I bought a Stainless Target II 9mm on Wednesday online. The dealer called me and said they over sold and were waiting on another shipment. He said the orders have been coming in speraticly.
They are a Kimber Master Dealer and usually have many around.

I wondered if that is the problem, but I keep hearing how the market is soft right now. Maybe it's not as soft as they say.

My little (and I mean little) LGS does sell Kimber, but he told me he has to order at least five of them to get any.

I have more Kimber's in my safe than most all "Master Dealers!"

If you really want a Kimber GunBroker is your friend...

Back in the day Kimber had Master Dealers. To be a Master Dealer they had to place an annual minimum order of $20,000.00, for this they would be listed on Kimbers Web Site as such. Kimber no longer lists Master Dealers, instead they list every dealer selling Kimbers.

I bought an LW Arctic back in November. Kimber still doesn't list it, so I think it must be a limited run from extra parts and not a permanent addition to their collection. You can probably still get one for around $560-$600.

Downeast, I disagree with this part of your post: "I think it must be a limited run from extra parts," I think that's far from the truth.
I agree it's not listed online, may or may not be permanent model, may be a limited run but who knows for how long? May have been made for Bass Pro, Cabela's and big chain stores.

I contend these have been around for at least a couple years BUT marketed under the plain name "Stainless" then Kimber made a few changes, changed the names...LW Stainless added a model or two BUT MOSTLY lowered the price to what I call entry level or Glock fan affordable and Baazinga people started noticing them, seeing the price and buying them like a kid in a candy store.

I think there is a old thread from a year or more ago where we discussed this topic that pops up pretty regular. I didn't have time to search for it. Maybe JC and some of us talked about it. Not sure.

Good score JC finding the SCU+! I tend to not check Smoky Mountain Guns cause me having to pay 9.75% sales tax will most likely offset any saving to me. On the good side I could make a day trip and have a purchase in hand the same day.
