Need some of your opinions

I have found a NIB Aegis Ultra II in 9mm for $800 plus tax and also found a used Super Carry Ultra + in 45 for $1200.

I feel the SCU is a bit over priced but I really want one.

Should I just get the AU and be done or wait and hey the SCU?

Please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks,
Jerod

Humm, I've got a bunch of Kimber 1911's of various flavors, but longed for a SCU+ myself. But being discontinued, only used ones come up now and then....and in varying degrees of condition.

That said, when I finally found the SCU+ for under a grand, I jumped on it. After stripping her down I learned that it had indeed been shot, and shot quite a bit. The night sights were dim, springs questionable, and it had a few dings in the slide finish, being 9 years old.

So......off to the Mothership she went, RMA in hand for a complete rebuild including new night sights, all new springs, slide refinish, function test. When it comes back, it'll be as new.

BUT, by the time I'm done with this project, I'll have that $1,200 gun I wish I had purchased when they were available. I'm telling this so you can consider the used gun may need some TLC. The last SCU+ was made in 2011, so more $ may be needed to bring her up to snuff. Consider too that they will only get harder to find in good shape.

Oh, and the price is right on that Aegis Ultra 9mm too. What to do, what to do?

(Full Disclosure: I have an Aegis Elite Custom in 9mm and an Ultra CDP 9mm. Love 'em both too. But SCU+'s only come up now and then. You "need" both. )

Always get the one you "really want". Always. An extra couple bucks will soon be forgotten... but the itch from not getting the gun you really want will last forever.

When push comes to shove if you have the money buy the one you really want.

No brainer for me SCU+. I prefer 45acp for self defense, general range time. Discontinued model but a good one IMO. The 1200 is still 2 years ago peak pricing. Worth it to me. Mine is seeing more and more EDC time in the holster. I talked Rick into buying one, he did have some issues but it will be better than brand new when he gets it back from the mothership.

Maybe I got lucky but my "used" SCU+ looked and shot like new in box. I added the CT Green laser grips.

IMO, I wouldn't listen to our opinion and wouldn't worry much about the money difference (if you can afford 1200) like others said: Buy the pistol you really want.

Thanks for the input guys. Really trying to narrow this down. I've decided to sell my Solo and figure out a way to get both!

Just have to do what I can.
Really appreciate all the information!
