Mags hanging up

Good evening, Have a Kimber Ultra Raptor 2. Stainless model. Just ordered some Ed Brown Mags. I notice that when pressing the mag release some mags slide right out and some get hung up. This is with the new mags and some of my Kimber mags. Gun has only been shot maybe 100 times. Any ideas, Thanks, PL

None here. the first thing I look at on any used 1911 is that an empty mag drops out when released. I guess that's after I notice if it has any idiot scratches on it. Funny or not, I have never seen a used 1911 that didn't have an idiot scratch

I would take the mag catch out and see if there might be a burr or some other irregularity where the catch latches into the mag. I would also check the mags to see if there's any burrs around the hole that the mag catch latches into. Another good thing to try is to label your mags and see if it's always the same ones doing it. If it is, it's most likely something with the mags themselves. If it's not always the same mags then it's likely something on the actual mag catch.

Dots on mags w/ fingernail polish or hobby paints lasts a long time for mag markings.
