Thinking about an Ultra Eclipse for $900.00!

I would like your thoughts on getting the Ultra Eclipse. I thought about other Ultras the ones that most interest me are either a lot more expensive or do not have the features I want. I want the night sights. also would like an ambi safety to accommodate my left hand but is not absolutely necessary. The Eclipse has the night sights but not the ambi safety. I could add it later if I wanted to. This Eclipse is used but it is immaculate!

One thing I just realized is the eclipse is a stainless frame and not aluminum like the CDP Ultra or the Raptor Ultra. 31 ounces as apposed to 25 ounces.

I carry one each and every day. It's heavy compared to the aluminum framed Ultras. BUT handles the recoil way better. A good gun belt and no problems carrying it. Very accurate, I would put it up against any 5 inch I've shot. If you don't mind the 34 oz Weight empty it's one of the best carry 45's out there. This is mine in a Clinger IWB

I can definitely feel the weight difference between my Eclipse Ultra II and Ultra Raptor II when I carry.

Wink Just Dang!!

Even with as many models as Kimber makes, sometimes it's just hard to find a pistol with everything that you want. You just have to keep in mind that you are starting off with two strikes against you: you are left handed and the glorious People's Republik of California tells you which guns you are allowed to purchase!!

HOT RUDE!!!

BTW, $900 for any Eclipse is a good deal if it is in good condition!! I'd jump on that in a heartbeat!! If I had fewer grandchildren, I'd have more guns!!! I don't mind, I love the little urchins. They make me laugh and smile!!! Specially my youngest grand daughter. Just looking at pictures of her cracks me up!!

Excuse me I only have one strike against me, You are right when you say California determines which Kimbers or other brands and models I can buy. Being Left handed is a positive it separates me from the herd. Do not forget left handed people think with the right side of the brain.

Tom,

What's 6 oz, not even a good sized steak at Texas Roadhouse. Of course that does not count the LOADED baked potato Go for it my friend.

P.S. I was just thinking, if you are carrying around a little more weight in the gun, is that considered exercise and and workout, so it is more healthy than a lighter gun???

The Ultra CDP has both the night sights and ambidextrous safety and you can get it in either 9mm or .45.

The Ultra Tactical is another choice with night sights, ambidextrous safety and a mag well in .45.

The other models available with night sights and ambi safeties are the Ultra Raptor, Super Carry Ultra, Sapphire Ultra and Onyx Ultra

You have received some excellent advice. Here is my 2cents. I want and like a lot of guns but I know and you know if there is a real itch for it. If there is an itch and a good deal. I scratch it.

Chuck in California I can only buy the Ultra CDP II or the Ultra Raptor new if I want the night sights and ambi safety. I can buy any Kimber I want if it is used and located in California. Please do not try to make sense of California laws you will just get a headache.
