Slide locks up when loaded

I just took my new kimber ultra cdp ll 9mm
Out of the box an loaded it with some gold dot
Ammo an tried to draw the slide back to see
How well it would cycle's an the the slide sticks
It a point that it takes a very strong person to
Draw the slide back to clear it. What's going on
With it P.S. I also tried hornady ammo as well
Same problem.

First things first: Strip and clean all the grease and gunk out of it. Then oil it and try cycling it many times without any ammunition near. See if it eases up any. Next try ball ammunition and see if it does the same? But most important follow Kimber's break in instructions, before you get too worried.
I have a Super Carry Ultra Plus, I took it to a smith when pretty new and he adjusted things that I discovered if I had just done the break in as I was told in the owners manual, it would have taken care of itself. Good luck.

+1 on what nellybelle said on break-in you may also find that your gun does not like some of the hollow point ammo out there

I know it's not the manly thing to do, but when all else fails, read the directions!!

No problem chambering and going fully into battery? Use caliper or mic and measure the length of the new rounds prior to loading. Measure again after clearing unfired rounds. I suspect a short leade or too tight a chamber. This would then require a finish reamer and headspace gauges to correct.

Most Kimbers had short leades. Thus the complaints of failure to return to battery after a hundred rounds or so depending on ammo. I always get some metal out when I drop in my finish reamer.

First, Tag, welcome to the group.

Overall, I agree with everything that has been said. However I think it's a bit early to be concerned about sizing anything. Follow the written instructions, or Nellybelle's and see what happens. While Mike may be right, (I have never checked clearances), trying to get the weapon to function, as produced, seems the more logical, less expensive way to approach the issue.
