I don't think Kimber is the answer, with it's age and the fact that you've had a gunsmith work and replaced parts in it they might not want to work with it. I think I'd look for a good local gunsmith that knows 1911's.

Very tricky since the SIS model line has been out of production since about Jan. 2010. I just bought a SIS Ultra a couple weeks ago. I had a few FTF that I narrowed down to one or two old Colt magazines that I used because I had preloaded some for the range trip.

I don't know what Kimber will say but won't hurt to call and ask.

It seems that if you've had a non Kimber gunsmith work on the gun Kimber may not honor any warranty. I may be wrong I thought I heard that somewhere. Also if your not the original owner service at Kimber may be charged or you pay shipping both ways. Again I may be wrong.

All potentially true. He's had it worked on by local gunsmith's that charged as was stated about $1000, and the problem has not been resolved. I believe the mother ship may be the answer. After all, they created it. How much more could it cost then more repeated trips to local sources.

If it's true that the mothership will work on your Kimber, but if it has aftermarket parts on it they will replace them with factory parts and charge you for the work, then this might be an expensive fix...

Worth a call to find out the facts....

You mentioned trying different magazines. What about the ammo?
You might try different brands of ammo. Was it white box Winchester. I have read some do not like the white box. I am assuming you are cleaning and lubing properly. I am still breaking in my Kimber (s) I run them a little wet.
