Question Register with Kimber

I'm not a fan of registering my firearms with the government or manufacturers. Call me paranoid. The only time I required manufacturer assistance was when the stock of my Ruger shotgun cracked. The had me send it back to them and they replaced it. I had not registered the shotgun with them.

How strict is Kimber when it comes to servicing a weapon that was not purchase-registered with them? I was going to send them an email about this but their support site does not provide an email address.

Anyone had warranty problems because they did not register with Kimber?

I think Kimber has one of the most generous service departments in the industry. They've been known to go way beyond their written warranty. Quickly skimming over their written warranty I couldn't see where it was stated that you had to register the firearm with them to qualify for warranty work. The way I read it, as long as you have the original bill of sale from when you purchased the gun you should be covered.

"Kimber Mfg., Inc. firearms are warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for one (1) year after the date of original new gun retail purchase, the Manufacturer agrees to correct by repair or replacement (with the same or comparable quality model) your firearm, without charge, if
returned prepaid with a copy of the bill of sale."

Thanks guys. Seems I'm not the only one who doesn't like advertising what I got. Lists can be obtained with a subpoena. Then they have you. Almost as bad as a government registration program.

If you purchase a firearm at a LGS and fill out the gun purchase application, right on the top of the app is a box to check for pistol/long rifle.Your name-address-ssn#and drivers license are all given to the NCIS data base to qualify your purchase...They already know what we have just not the make or serial number...I personally like buying from a local private individual with just a bill of sale so there's no database of purchases that I have made.

When I buy a gun, I never give my SSN. No need. The check info in Florida is deleted within 48 hours (supposedly) but eventually the 4473 will find it's way to the ATF.

For a FTF transaction, I don't want any paperwork. I hand over hte cash and they hand over the gun. Nothing else.

Question

I bought it 6 or 7 years ago. Hell, I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning. Maybe, maybe not. Who knows!!

Registering customers is a marketing thing...

Insta-gator, I don't think failing to register would void a warranty claim if you can prove purchase date. Honestly, the registration thing is so they can "know who their customers are" in theory of course. If you want to scare the crap out of a marketing person at a manufacturing company just say "What?! you mean you don't have a data base of your customers names?!"
