Heard a new one over the weekend

I met a good friend of mines brother for the first time this weekend. Going in I had been told he was somewhat of a "gun guy." Well long story short we got to talking about 1911's and I told him I had a few Kimbers. First thing he says is "I hope they are older ones because they get their small parts from China now." I politely told him that he was given some incorrect information and that Kimber manufactures everything in house. First time I've heard anybody mention "Made in China" and Kimber in the same sentence.

I had a guy at our local range tell me all Kimbers are over priced for what they are. He went on to tell me all the internals are cheaply made and will break for no reason. I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinions no matter how incorrect they are

Made it China....now that's funny. Everybody knows that they make Kimber's in Croatia out of those MIM (made in Mexico) parts.

Funny thing, he said he was a Springfield owner and until recently most Springfields were made in Brazil. So I guess I'm not really sure the point he was trying to make

It has never crossed my mind that Kimber had or made parts from China. When I first got bit by the Kimber bug, I watched a few videos of there craftsmanship and it showed them making parts and pieces right here in the good ol U S of A!!

Actually, the only time I'm aware of that they did use any parts that were not made in the US was in the very beginning, when they did have some of their small components made in Spain using Kimber molds.
