Ultra Raptor II loose rear sight

Shooting my new Raptor (.45acp) today I noticed the rear sight had moved. When I was checking the set-screw I discovered the sight could be removed by-hand.

Seems strange a dovetail sight should move so easily and depend only on a set-screw.

Any thoughts on the uniqueness of Kimber sights?

Easy fix and not unique to a Kimber.
If it were a Glock ect., ....no uniqueness.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois stump, you can probably tighten the screw and lock the sight in place but normally the rear sight shouldn't be that loose. I'd give Kimbers customer service before I tried doing anything with it.

That is not normal, if anything Kimber is known for a very tight fit in the dovetail. Either the slide is out of spec or the sight is, I would follow Chucks advice and call Kimber. Your other option is to live with it and use some lock tight on the set screw. Welcome to the site(no pun intended).

First...welcome to the forum, Stump! If the weight of opinions matter, I'd also suggest following Chuck's advice. Update us on the outcome.

Silly question but my eyesight is a little lacking, there is a tiny lock screw on the rear sight and if so what size tool to tighten it?

welcome stump :-)

I have a Pro CDP II 9mm that's in Yonkers because the front sight fell out of the dovetail? Happened within the first 50 shots or so. There was another mention of the same issue with a front sight. I believe I'm correct in that your pistol has a dovetail mount for the rear sight as well, it shouldn't move on it's own. As has been suggested I'd recommend calling Kimber and letting them work their magic rather than messing with it yourself (don't void the warranty). Kimber wanted my entire pistol to check everything over, been about 3 weeks now? Good luck and post back with what you wind up doing.

1/16" but if it's locked in you'll bend the wrench before it moves
