What's up with Kimber's rep?

OK, as mentioned before, we purchased our Kimbers on an impulse. Maybe not such a good idea, considering the money involved.

Anyway, I cruise through some other gun forums and was surprised to read so many disparaging comments about Kimber 1911s. Even though there will be a few who will say they own and shoot Kimber 1911s without issue, the others just seem to dog pile on the Kimber for "the usual list of problems" whatever that is. They don't seem to care enough to be explicit. I understand people will have their favorite manufacturer to love and favorite to hate. But for the life of me I don't understand their objection.

Have any of you run into this? If there is a list of "usual problems" with Kimber 1911s, what are they and what do you do about it?

BTW, I still love my Custom Crimson Carry II, just for the record.

We touched on this in another thread about two weeks ago, I believe you posted in it, you can read my experience with one of them at my LGS and range.

Thanks Chuck. I guess I was a little taken aback from what I was reading I was anxious to post the question here with y'all.

Seems FTF is the biggest concern. Wilson Combat mags seems to be the easiest, preferred solution. Also, proper cleaning and break-in with quality ammo.

I still have a few hundred rounds to do for my break-in.

Thanks for pointing me to the other thread. I had forgotten.

Another reason I'm liking a dedicated Kimber forum.

Kimber makes a fine product. It really doesn't matter what firearm you choose, someone's not going to like it. I agree with JW, nice to be somewhere with like minded people.

The only people I ever hear complain about Kimber pistols and rifles are the ones that don't own them.

They cost a little more, and people will always find a reason to justify not purchasing one. I've never talked to anyone that regretted getting a Kimber. I'd like a few more.

Honestly there isn't a gun company today making 100% fail proof guns. I think that some of the problems stem from people that refuse to follow instructions and some that feel because they paid x amount of dollars they shouldn't ever have a problem. The biggest problem seem to be from those that have a minor problem and blow it up in their mind into a big problem. Bill Gates has a house that cost more money then any 20 of us together could earn in our lifetimes. You going to tell me he never has to call a plumber or electrician to fix something in it?
