Magazine Question -- Kimber NewB

Greetings -- I recently purchase what I believed to be an 8rnd 9mm magazine for my new Aegis (1st Kimber). It'll take 8 but it does require force to load the last round. And, it will FTL when I load 8...jams up on the guide ramp (seven is perfectly fine). My question: Does Kimber make a 7 round mag in 9mm? Could I have just have assumed that the 2nd mag I purchased with the gun was 8rnds (like the one that came with it)? I dunno...dummy here threw the box away

Kimber box, baseplate is stamped Kimber, 6 holes on the sides, only room for one round above the top hole.

Is your Pistol a Ultra , Pro , or Custom?

You didn't mention what model Aegis you have, the 9mm Ultra magazine takes 8 rounds and the Pro and Custom 9mm magazines take 9 rounds. I think your magazines just need to be broken in, load them up and let them sit for a while. No Kimber does not make a 9mm 7 round magazine, they only make 7 round .45 magazines.

Hey guys -- thanks for the quick responses. It's an Ultra Aegis. I did shop the internet looking for a 7 round mag before I posted so I'm relieved with the consensus here . I made intro's last weekend...I'm Goodoz from Birmingham, AL and I'm pleased to make your acquaintance. Yep, I'll just load up 8 and throw it in the safe for a few weeks...see what happens. The mag that came with the gun is a little different on top and has 8 holes...so I was corn-fused. Thanks again!

Welcome! I read an article recently that many in military (even special forces) and le purposely load mags 1 or 2 rounds shy of max to eliminate the issue you are encountering, i.e. they do not "top off". Something to consider.

Goodoz, getting the last round in either magazine is a B**** loading them up should help. For range magazines it is not a big deal.

You might want to check into joes1911magmania on ebay. Myself and many others have purchased from him, great guy. I have bought 9mm and .45 magazines in Ultra (compact) and full size not had any problems with any of them. Can save you some $$.

I agree with 2sharp2 on Joe's magazines I've purchased both 9mm and .45 mags from him and never had a problem with them. If you don't already have one look into picking up a Maglula UpLULA it will make loading your magazines much easier and save your thumb.

I purchased 5-8 rounds 9mm compact mags from Joe's for $90 and they work great.
