Friday 8/11/17 governor Bruce Rauner signed SB607 legalizing the carrying of automatic knives by CCL holders.

What Governor Bruce Rauner failed to tell you is that guns will be banned. Only knives will be allowed to be carried concealed. Didn't you know that?

I'll admit, they're fun to play with--for a week or two.

I think I liked them as a kid because they were "forbidden fruit." But truth be told, my Zero Tolerance in S35VN is deploys faster and has a better blade alloy.

Sure, I love my Emerson/Protech, but at the end of the day a switchblade is just a tool like any other edged device.

...this said from a guy who now carries a 40 dollar Ruger/CRKT...

To be honest, my Swiss Army Knife gets the most use. I call it a MANicure kit.

This is where I have my love/hate relationships with switchblades.

I'm of an age when a switchblade was a Sicilian stiletto. I still admire the appearance, although the pivot is essentially a rivet.

I do see the need for a "fending" tool, but my ZT0909 works just as fast and is made from superior materials. I've always liked the CQC7 line, so I bought an Emerson/Protech collaborative, but it just sits in a drawer. My Ruger/CRKT is breaking in nicely and the flipper feature makes it as fast as a switchblade, anyway.

Then there's the reality of the situation. The fastest knife in the world is a fixed blade--you just draw it.

I carry one of those, too...
