Knives Illustrated, 2018 review magazine.

Periodically, this knife magazine gets as many of the new knives (in all categories) as it can, and does brief showcases on them, their manufactures and relative costs. Today, I noticed something about the knives.

That is, every bevel was perfect--including the model that was just repaired for Chuck.

In fact, on the cover is one of the most difficult Spyderco models there is to polish. Doc has several, and there is a spot on the belly as the edge curves up to the tip that is met with a curved, dished out section. This section has nothing to do with keenness, it's just cosmetic.

I will tell you this, the edge they show must be photo-shopped. I've never been able to get an edge on that knife as thin and uniform as they show without hitting this curve.

So, enjoy the new toys. But my belief is that the knife you buy will never be as perfect as these photographs.
Chuck43 and Jflytle like this.
...No matter where you are it's enemy territory...
