Selecting a knife....

Hi everyone, I was selecting a knife as a present for a friend of mine, and cannot decide between the two: Camillus Knife and Spyderco. I am not that educated about these 2 knife brands in terms of stealth and overall quality, so decided to post here to ask your folks opinion about these 2.
Spyderco® - Bill Moran™ Black Drop Point Plain Edge Knife
Camillus BushCrafter Fixed Blade Knife with Leather Sheath

Also, when shopping for the knives, I came across knives by Smith & Wesson. They look cool, with the brand engraving and stuff. Yet prices are between $10 and $40, which made me think they are more a sort of souvenirs, you know. So, do you think they are good? Thanks.

I would go with the Spyderco, it's made from very good stainless steel.

The Camiillus is made from 1095 steel, which is very close to composition of a railroad track. If left wet or bloody, the Camillus will corrode.

However, as a sharpener, if I had to create the sharpest edge I could, I would use 1095. In fact, one of my best defensive knives is a TOPS C.A.T. fixed blade tanto. It is 1095, and you wouldn't even want to get nicked with it.

Okay, so I will buy Spyderco then. Thanks for replying, folks. I just did not want to buy something of no good, you see.

Oh, when you actually hold the knife, check the lock. It's the first thing I do when I open a box.
